4x Race Report: It's Not Over 'Til the Fat Lady Sings

Another race at Fontana is now in the books.  We had plans for Sunday so it was 4x only racing for me. Did a DH run, slid out twice and opted to eat lunch and then practice 4x.  It got really hot and muggy and the hike up the hill to the 4x course was miserable.  My leg and knee were hurting (only while walking of course) and Mark Yee was kind enought to push my bike up the hill, THANKS Mark!!! And thanks to the Incycle guys for the cold water!

On to the race. The title of this Race Report was my motto for Saturday's 4x race. It was great to have a full moto for a change. It was me, Laura, Mary and Robin. I met Mary at Sea Otter and she is really a girl on a mission.  The 1st moto she went hot into the corners and took Laura out on the 2nd one which put me in 1st.  The 2nd moto she lost a pedal in the middle of the course which allowed me to get by her. I ended up 2nd in the 2nd moto and 1st overall.

As Rich Houseman has taught me, It's all about a quick gate (which I didn't have) and picking and protecting your lines and get to know the high/low, low/high passes. It pays not to give up 'cause you never know who might go down during the race. It's truly not over 'til the Fat Lady Sings!!
