2014 Salsa Beargrease Carbon

2014 Salsa Beargrease carbon fatbike at The Path Bike Shop in Tustin, CAThe 2014 Salsa Beargrease Carbon is THE racing fatbike, with full carbon frame and fork. Think of all the terrain you can ride on a fatbike. Now think of riding it fast!

The frame’s massive carbon ‘tubes’ combine with front and rear thru-axles that increase the stiffness and efficiency of the chassis. The Beargrease Carbon has internal cable routing, all excesses removed, and new geometry that will have you forgetting you are on a fatbike. Made all the more sweet with a Salsa carbon tapered fork, Salsa Carbon flat handlebar, and SRAM XX1 drivetrain.

Ride everywhere and anywhere you never thought you could...how about a 40-mile weekend race, or the 1000-mile Iditarod Invitational in Alaska?

2014 Surly Straggler

2014 Surly Straggler cross bikeThe 2014 Surly Straggler cross bike is a new model from Surly this year. Similar to the popular Surly Cross-Check, the new Straggler is a cyclocross bike too, but with disc brakes.

Great cross bike for anything and everything you might need: a "rough road" road bike, a cyclocross bike, a utilitarian town bike, a light-duty touring bike, or a commuter bike. Take your pick, this versatile bike can do it all comfortably.

Features:

  • accepts brake rotors up to 160mm
  • partially closed horizontal dropouts that accommodate singlespeed or geared drivetrains
  • rear dropouts are spaced 135mm (instead of 132.5mm like the Cross-Check)
  • braze-ons for fenders, racks and bottle cages

Santa Cruz with SRAM X01

2014 Santa Cruz Tallboy 2 Carbon with SRAM X01 1x11 drivetrainSanta Cruz bikes are now available with the new all black SRAM X01. The SRAM X01 1x11 setup is simpler, lighter weight, and the shifting is fast and solid. 

This 2014 Santa Cruz Tallboy 2 carbon is one of the first ones we have received at the shop. MSRP is $6297.

 

2014 Kona Precept DL

2014 Kona Precept and Precept DLIt's another new model for 2014 from our friends at Kona Bikes, the Precept DL and the Precept.

Kona describes the 2014 Kona Precept DL as "the entry-level version of our brand-new Process bikes". In fact, the Precept DL has a lot of the same features as the Process: direct-mount front derailleur, dropper-post cable routing and a full complement of cartridge bearings. It even has similar geometry to the Process 134: same BBH, same chainstay length and same 68-degree headtube angle.

With RockShox suspension both front and rear and 27.5" wheel size, this bike is ready to race enduro, ride all day singletrack, and everything in between. MSRP is $1899.

Kona describes the 2014 Kona Precept as "an evolution of the venerable Tanuki". This bike covers a huge range of riding capabilities; it is an incredibly efficient climber, and a faster, more stable, descender. MSRP is $1599.

2014 Intense Cycles Arrivals: 951 EVO, Carbine, Spider Comp 29er

2014 Intense 951 EVO with 27.5Intense has made a lot of changes and improvements to some of their favorite bike models this year. 

Made in the USA with aggressive DH geometry and 8.5" of travel, the 2014 Intense 951 EVO (pictured, upper right) has been redesigned to utilize 27.5" wheels. With a slacker 62.5 degree head tube angle and a short chainstay, you'll feel more confidence through tech, steeps, and high speeds. MSRP is $6399.

The 2014 Intense Carbine 275 (pictured, left) has gone in a whole different direction from last year. It's now a dedicated 27.5" carbon frame mountain bike with adjustable travel (5.5" to 6") and aggressive 27.5" trail geometry. MSRP is $6599.

29ers more your thing? No problem, there's a Carbine for you too! The 2014 Intense Carbine 29er carbon (pictured, center) gives you 5.5 inches (140mm) of rear wheel travel, 160mm of travel up front, and a 67 degree head tube angle. Suspension is sweet and light with a Cane Creek double barrel air rear shock. This size large pictured here weighed in at 30 pounds on the dot! MSRP is $6599.

Another 29er in the group...the 2014 Intense Spider Comp 29er (pictured, right). This all carbon frame was designed for XC/ light-trail use. This bike has some great features: adjustable travel (4.5" – 5″), G1 dropout system, and some new aesthetic improvements like internal cable routing, tapered head tube, and special internal cable routing for the RockShox Reverb. This build kit comes with RockShox Revelation fork and Reverb Stealth seatpost. MSRP is $6399.

2014 Surly Long Haul Trucker

2014 Surly Long Haul Trucker touring road bikeThe Surly Long Haul Trucker has long been known as a dependable, comfortable, steel frame touring bike. It's got all the braze-ons you need to haul your gear: rack mounts, water bottle cage bosses, fender mounts, and even a spare spoke holder. The tubing on the frame is thicker-walled and larger in diameter than your standard road and touring frames, so it's made to handle lots of cargo weight.

The standard Long Haul Trucker is available as either a frameset or as a complete bike, with 26˝ wheels in 42–62cm frame sizes, or with 700c wheels in 56–64cm.
